How Self Care Prevents Burn Out

I feel like lately, self care has been a phrase thrown around. It could be because we are in a society that doesn’t really take the time to slow down! We are so busy running around, being overworked, over thinking, hustling, and whatever else, that more and more people are being burned out. So, I believe “Self Care” has become a huge thing because people are realizing that these two words are essential and just as important as drinking water, in my opinion. Self care was a normal daily thing until we got into this hustle era, where now it isn’t that normal as a daily tactic.

“Self care is a mindset followed by actions

Self care can also be hard sometimes in this society, because we have been conditioned to believe that if we stop to take time for ourselves, we will miss out ( I too have felt this way). Self care should be a daily habit and not a once in a while thing. Taking time of yourself is key to not burning yourself out or stressing yourself out. When I start to feel overwhelmed, I try (key word is try) to take a step back and implement some self care. The feeling of being stressed and being overwhelmed is a direct indication that you need YOU. It is a way that your body is communicating to you to relax, live in the moment, and refocus. Self care keeps you healthy and somewhat balanced in life. Being healthy keeps us in a good condition to do the work that you are required to do or would like to do.

What Exactly is Self Care?

Today self care includes hanging with friends and family, massages, mani & Pedi, and vacations. However, self care also can include inexpensive things. Such as naps (I personally love a good nap), reading a book, drinking a cup of tea, sitting outside, a hot bath, talking to a friend, talking to a therapist, burning candles, and essential oils.

If you find yourself always stressed, depressed, and or feeling overwhelmed, just remember these tips above, and gradually start implementing some of these things into your life. Stress and being burnt out is a killer, but also something that can be prevented. We all get stressed and overwhelmed with life, but how we handle these moments is critical to your well being. Take care of yourself!
